More Chemical Peel Skin Care Savings and Information

Let’s delve further into my chemical peel skin care experience to better understand this product.  Maximize chemical peel skin care savings by purchasing a bottle of glycolic peel and applying it at home.  The Money Skinny™ article Glycolic Chemical Peel Skin Care Savings has instructions on how to apply a chemical peel.  I use the Perfect Image Glycolic 30% Gel Peel Level 1.  It is critically important to carefully follow product directions.  Start slowly to see how your skin reacts.  Never have a chemical peel on your skin for more than five minutes.  Be respectful of the power of the peel!  Let’s review what to expect using a glycolic peel, skipping the spa, selecting a glycolic peel strength and saving money on moisturizers to apply post-peel.

Expected Chemical Peel Skin Care Results
  • When using a glycolic chemical peel, the top layer of skin seems to melt off making the skin surface exceptionally smooth.
  • Your skin may slightly tingle or sting. Your skin may be pink for about half an hour post-peel but not burned.
  • This is a topical application, not an invasive treatment. It’s not micro-needling or microdermabrasion.  The peel is a small weekly step to help your skin look its best.
  • After a few months of weekly use, skin issues like uneven texture, small bumps and spots lessen.  Perhaps disappear.  In my non-medically trained opinion, removing the top lay of the skin removes the top layer of the issue.  Gradually skin imperfections rise to the surface and melt away to improve skin texture.  That is why I peel.
  • The product label says it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Maybe.  I’d put fine lines and wrinkles to a smaller degree into the gradually melting away category above. This topical treatment will not improve underlying skin elasticity or lessen gravitational pull.  It can’t hurt but it isn’t a major benefit.
Skip the Spa for Chemical Peel Skin Care Savings

A friend paid $350 for five peel treatments at a spa and didn’t see skin improvement.  That hurts.  It takes a couple of months of weekly peel usage to see a difference in skin texture.  Five treatments won’t do it.   Appointment scheduling, drive-time, the money – just say NO.  Better/cheaper/faster to skip the spa and peel at home.  The one-ounce bottle lasts about four to five months with weekly application.  A cost of about $2 per home application is significant chemical peel skincare savings.

Selecting a Glycolic Peel Strength

As mentioned above, I use the Perfect Image Glycolic 30% Gel Peel Level 1.  Perfect Image Glycolic 50% Gel Peel Level 2 is a stronger product.  I have not had the need to move up to the higher strength product.  I started at Level 1 and anticipate staying there because I am getting good results with five minutes of use.  If you have sensitive skin, I recommend starting at Level 1 30%.  If you don’t have sensitive skin and/or are not getting the desired result with Level 1, try the Level 2 50%.  Read the on-line reviews if you need further assistance in selecting which product level.

Savings on Moisturizers

Apply a moisturizer to sooth the skin after a peel treatment.  Walmart sells the Equate Beauty Facial Moisturizer under the Equate “comparable to…” label that in my experience is the same as the department store product.

Equate Moisturizers
Save money with Walmart’s Equate “Comparable to…” Skincare Brand.

The moisturizer in the third step of a department store skin care routine has a comparable Equate Strikingly Unique Moisturizing Lotion at a dramatically different price than the department store brand.  For those of you that swear by a moisture surge gel, try this Equate Beauty Hydration Gel for half the price of the department store brand.  Order from Walmart on-line with free shipping site-to-store any size order or free site-to-home shipping for orders over $50.

**Disclaimer**

While I have been very pleased with my results from a glycolic peel, your experience may vary.  Please carefully follow product instructions for the best outcome.
