Glycolic Chemical Peel Skin Care Savings

Using an at-home glycolic chemical peel can save money. Home treatments saving both time and money are fantastic! A skin care technician suggested a glycolic chemical peel for $150. The money, the appointment, the drive time. I just can’t. I found a similar product done at home for a fraction of the price. You can help your skin look its best with a glycolic chemical peel. By investing five minutes per week at a cost of about $2 per application you, too, can experience skin care savings and benefits. Recall The Money Skinny™ mission is to save you time and money. Let’s review a glycolic chemical peel, how to use it and supplemental products for additional savings.
Glycolic Chemical Peel Skin Care Savings
I use the Perfect Image Glycolic 30% Gel Peel Level 1. This glycolic chemical peel costs about $30 for a one-ounce bottle. It lasts three to four months with weekly application. It is available in a higher strength. I haven’t needed the increased strength after about one year’s use. The product has a clear watery gel consistency with a dropper style cap. A peel removes the outer layer of dead skin cells. It can improve uneven skin texture and fades/removes age and sunspots. The label claims to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It can be used anywhere on the body.
How to Apply a Glycolic Chemical Peel
- Read directions and warnings enclosed with the product.
- Place a couple of drops directly on the area. Spread to a slightly wet consistency.
- Use a timer to place the peel on the skin for one minute. Add an additional minute each week to a max of five minutes.
- Be respectful of product strength. Follow application guidelines, time limits and intervals.
- Rinse the glycolic chemical peel off with water.
After Glycolic Chemical Peel Skincare
- Apply a moisturizer after the peel to soothe the skin.
- Expect the skin to get a little pink immediately after the peel. Skin should return to normal within a half hour.
- Best to peel in the evening to avoid direct sun exposure.
The Money Skinny™ Glycolic Chemical Peel Advice
Treat the glycolic chemical peel like a sunburn. Avoid the sun for a day or two after application. Skin may be more fragile. The peel will tingle but shouldn’t burn. Your skin may be a little flaky the following day as you adjust to the product. My post-peel skin is exceptionally smooth in a way that can’t be achieved with moisturizer alone.

Be Careful Using A Glycolic Chemical Peel
I had an issue when I used a glycolic chemical peel a second time in one week. Tried to get a booster for a special occasion. My skin looked inflamed. Won’t do that again. A friend applied a glycolic chemical peel in the morning before a long car ride on a sunny day. Unfortunately, she experienced some sunburn spots. Better to apply the peel in the evening to eliminate the chance of sun exposure.
Saving Money on Moisturizer
The Money Skinny™ may need to add a second moniker of the Low-cost Skin Care Whisperer. I have also found ways to save money on moisturizers. Marshalls and TJMaxx sell brand name skin and hair care products for less than half the regular retail price. Same products, same label.
Additional Skin Care Savings Tip
The Walmart Equate “comparable to…” brand is the same as the department store. But at a forty percent lower price.

Walmart sells the Equate Precision Focus Serum, as well as a three-step skin care routine that includes an Equate Beauty Firming Day Cream. You can use this name brand makeup remover or try the Equate Makeup Removing Towelettes pictured at less than half the price. Have some wrinkles you hope will lessen? Try the Equate Beauty Wrinkle Repair.
Buying on-line from Walmart avoids that department store trip when you intend to buy a bottle of moisturizer and you’re upsold to sixty bucks of miscellaneous products plus a sweater.
