Changes in Overtime Rule
by BL Schultz
May 30, 2016
Effective December 1, 2016, the threshold for overtime pay eligibility will be raised to $47, 467 per year or $913 per week. Those salary workers making less than the annual or weekly salary limit must be paid time and a half for any hours worked above a 40-hour work week. While the change does not affect the “duties test” which establishes criteria for over-time eligibility, raising the minimum salary amount makes the application of that rule immaterial for those people earning less than $47,467 annually.
